Fishing has been good if you are persistent. The number of boats makes the fishing tough at times. Stripers up to 30 inches are taking soft plastics jigged in 18 to 30 feet of water. Fly fishing with big half and halfs on sinking lines are also working great. There are also fish in shallow water when conditions are right. Stripers in the 18 to 20 inches range have been on the surface sporadically.
Striper fishing continues to be good. At times persistence is the key as the bite turns on and off. Jigging and casting soft plastics over underwater structure has been best. Some fish are also suspended in deep water. Fly fishing with sinking lines and large half and half’s are catching good size stripers.
After a slow start to May, the fishing has really picked up. Stripers up to 36 inches have shown up in good numbers. Jigging soft plastics has been the most productive. Fly fishing has also been good for those patient to get their fly to the fish.
The Susquehanna Flats season ended in good fashion. Weren’t real big fish but lots of stripers in mid to upper twenties. Now it’s time to fish for post spawn fish out of Kent Narrows. Fly fishing was especially good on the flats.
The wind has been relentless but when able to get out stripers have been fattening up on bunker. Sometimes finding just a few birds is all you need to find the fish. Jigging soft plastics and big flies on sinking lines have been best.
Stripers are breaking on the surface daily. Poppers and gurglers bring strikers on every cast. Clousers on sinking lines work too. Spin fishing with topwater and subsurface lures catch also. The shallow water bite is still holding up with some larger fish.
The shallow water bite continues to be good for stripers on topwater plugs and poppers on the fly rod. Breaking fish have been pretty consistent. Stripers, a few bluefish and Spanish mackerel are feeding on the surface. Fly fishing is great when they are breaking with floating and sinking lines.
It’s the time of year for breaking fish. Stripers have started breaking on the surface and will only get better. Shouldn’t be long before we see bluefish showing up too. The shallows water bite continues to be good also.
Shallow water bite has still been real good when conditions are right. Surface plugs and fly rod poppers have caught stripers up to 30 inches. Jigging soft plastics has also been catching good numbers of fish. Big flies on sinking lines are working real well too.
Striper fishing continues to be real good. When conditions are right the shallow water bite has been great. Striped bass up to 30 inches have been smashing topwater plugs. Jigging soft plastics has produced some bigger fish also. Fly fishing with sinking lines is catching the same size rockfish.
Striper fishing has been spectacular this week. Striped bass up to 36 inches have been taking flies like crazy. Half and halfs on sinking lines have been best. Once in a while the rockfish have busted menhaden on the surface. Jigging with soft plastics has also worked well.
